What is an Otolaryngologist? 

An otolaryngologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and conditions affecting the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Otolaryngologists, commonly referred to as ENT doctors, undergo extensive training and education in both medical and surgical management of these conditions. They are trained to provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of disorders and conditions that affect these structures. 

Education and Training 

To become an otolaryngologist, one must complete four years of undergraduate education, followed by four years of medical school. After obtaining a medical degree, the individual must complete a five-year residency program in otolaryngology. Some otolaryngologists may also choose to pursue additional fellowship training in a specific area of expertise, such as pediatric otolaryngology or head and neck surgery.
